Its
time to race….Thank God
For
most race fans the time between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s
Day can be pure torture, if you’re not into football.
Trying to find someway to occupy your Sunday afternoons,
especially in the cold north, when the weather doesn’t
want to cooperate. But here we are with less than
a month to go until Daytona and the juices are already
starting to flow.
This upcoming year looks to be one of excitement and
wonder. Will the teams that finished in the top ten
make it there again, and will the teams who fells
short of that mark make the cut this year. There is
a large class of rookies this year. Who will make
it to the? Will last years rookies of the year continue
to shine.
We have had a lot of players swapping teams this last
year, some changed because they wanted to, others
left because they didn’t have a choice. Let’s see
if the new homes for the drivers will be the difference
they need to become better drivers.
This year will be the last year for a legend, mark
martin graciously agreed to stay an extra year with
Roush racing because wasn’t a driver ready to take
over his ride. So those of us who are Roush fans,
lets hope this is the best season for mark.
This
will be the last year of the all American NASCAR car;
starting in 2007 Toyota will be joining the race with
one of its cars. With them joining as a manufacturer
it will give us two brand new team, Michael Waltrip
and team red bull, and bill Davis racing will be switching
to Toyotas in 2007.
I’m looking forward to a great season of racing, I
will be writing again this year about the good, bad
and the ugly. I know I may ruffle some feathers, but
that’s the nature of the beast when you’re writing
from your heart.
A few final thoughts about last season, then on to
this year. It was a very exciting race for the chase.
The teams everyone thought would be there at the beginning
of the year didn’t make it, and a few who some didn’t
think stood a chance did. I personally don’t think
it was any less of a chase without Gordon and Earnhardt
it just proves it not only the top guns who get to
play in the end.
The incident with Kurt Busch in phoenix with only
two races left showed a lot of immaturity on his part.
For someone who is supposed to be a role model, I
certainly hope this showed kids that you do pay for
your actions. And pay he did by not racing in the
final races and not giving his team and chance to
improve in the standings. His actions may have given
Jack Roush the comfort, that his is no longer his
problem.
Well I’m rambled on long enough to start this season
off; I know the site has been abit slow during the
off season. That is all going to change, we are planning
to add news feeds, links to buying tickets for all
the races trivia and strange facts that will make
you think..
Be safe, have fun and let’s get ready to race….
